Transportation to Villa del Tepoz Fuego Once
you land by air you will exit and follow the signs into the airport terminal and
you need to go through Mexican Immigration and to receive your visitors stamped
visa, and then you will proceed through customs. Here they use a random checking
system of having you push a button. If you get a green light you pass immediately
through customs through a turnstile, out into the public terminal International
travelers arrival area. If you get a red light they will inspect your bags and
then you will pass out to the arriving International travelers area. We recommend
you use one of the many porters to help you with your bags and to get you to your
transportation. 30 to 50 Mexican pesos is recommended.
If you do not have
pesos and it is not late at night, you can find many Cambio (change) booths along
this corridor that post their exchange rate of the day. In order to exchange your
money (or Travelers Cheques), look for the best rate. If it is late in the evening
or you prefer to use your debit or credit card there are ATM machines along the
corridor. Make sure you get pesos and a bottle of water before you leave on your
journey. Foreign currencies are seldom accepted anywhere and when they are it
is never at a favorable exchange rate.
There are several ways to get to
the Villa del Tepoz Fuego. The following list shows you your options but is not
in any particular order. We find that everyone has different preferences.
1.
Let Us Pick You UP and Drop You Off, Or Take You Touring
We have an
air conditioned luxury 2006 fifteen person Toyota Hiace Van that with the driver
included and with no back storage for luggage seats 15 people. We can take out
the back three seats and handle 9 to 10 people with a reasonable amount of baggage.
We also have a Toyota Land cruiser which we use for smaller groups of four or
less people. For transportation from and to the Mexico City International
airport we charge $120 a run for up to four adults. Children are free. Each additional
adult is $10 per person per run. Runs that begin or end between 12 midnight and
6:00 AM carry an extra $20 USD charge. Transportation can be arranged around
the area in a case by case basis, prices vary on time and distance. We have eleven
different existing tours. Tours can also be arranged by us for your group using
a professional tour guide for visiting anthropological sights. This would be an
added charge. For an 8 hour day we would charge you $75 USD for the van and have
the owner Bruce, who will be your informal tour guide drive you to some of the
most interesting places in the area. Your group would pay for gas, parking, and
tolls, your own lunch, and entry fees in addition to the $75 USD. Transportation
and tour services are paid in full with your credit card at the time of making
your reservations. Our vehicles are rented on a first come and first served basis.
Please check our cancellation policy on our web site. For all incoming
flights: We will be checking your flight information that day. If your flight
arrives on time we expect that it can take up to 30 minutes to disembark, and
go through customs and immigration before you exit into the International terminal.
We will be parking our pickup vehicle in a public parking area and we will
be required to walk to the parking area. You may need to hire a porter to transport
your luggage if there are a number of large bags. Only airport union porters can
supply this service. We are not allowed to pick up guests at the exit doors in
that we are a transportation service owned by foreigners. We will be
waiting for you outside of immigration in the airport passenger receiving area.
Many times Mexico City Airport information posts wrong airline arrival exit information.
This could make us miss you when you exit from customs. We will have a large sign
so you can find us that says "Villa del Tepoz Fuego". If your exiting
in Terminal 2 and we are not visible upon exiting please wait for15 minutes and
then go immediately to the bleacher seats across the hall. If your exiting in
Terminal 1 and we are not visible upon exiting please wait for15 minutes and then
go immediately to the Freedom Restaurant located on the first floor of the International
Terminal and wait outside of it for your pickup. This is our failsafe point. Freedom
is between the two customs immigration doors. You will either see it immediately
to your right as you exit one of the customs doors or if not go at least 50 yards
to your left and you will find it on your left. If you wait more then 20 minutes
at this point call us at 01-739-395-0806 (Mexico land line phone). You will need
to purchase a phone card at one of the small stores for this. This way we can
find out if there has been any bad traffic causing a delay in our pickup. Please
find a picture of one of our drivers and the van below with additional information.
If your plane is more then one hour late there may be an additional
charge. Each additional adult is $10 USD, $110 pesos . Pickups that involve our
vehicles leaving our premises before 6:00 AM and after 12AM, have an extra charge
of $20 per trip. We also have our Toyota Land Cruiser SUV available for luggage
pickups, smaller group pickups, or Wednesday Mexico City arrivals and departures,
We can also arrange transportation for you to other destinations. Our van can
not circulate in Mexico City on Wednesdays
2. Hire a Car with Chauffer,
$150 US (2 persons) dollars, 90-120 minutes. You can hire a car at the
airport. This costs around $150 for two. This includes the tolls and tip for the
driver. Prices vary depending on the time of day and the number of passengers.
To your left you will see as you come out of the Customs area in the main terminal
two windows that say Taxi. Give your bags to a porter, exchange money, and then
go up to one of the Taxi windows and ask for a car to go to the state of Morelos,
town of Tepoztlán. You need to say the state because without a Mexican
accent you can wind up in the wrong town due to a similar sounding name. They
will charge you a fee and give you a receipt at the window. Your porter will escort
you to the outside door to one of the waiting large comfortable cars. He will
load your bags and you will need to tip him 30 to 50 pesos. Tell the driver you
are going to the state of Morelos, Tepoztlán to the Villa del Tepoz Fuego.
Tell him that our Villa is cerca (near) the Cruz de Atongo, in the valley east
of the Zocolo (center) of town and show him our address. You
can print out the map that is on this website for him before you go. This
way can take 90 minutes to 120 minutes to get to our place depending on Mexico
city traffic.
3. Take a Bus to Cuernavaca and
then a Taxi, $35 US (2 persons), 150 - 180 minutes You can take a
bus from the airport to Cuernavaca. Ask your porter to take you to the Pullman
de Morelos. It is parked right outside of the Airport Terminal. The cost of the
bus is around 108 pesos ($10 US) per person. It leaves right from the airport
every 40 minutes, up to 10:30 PM. It takes you to a bus terminal, Casino de La
Selva, which is located inside the large city of Cuernavaca. Ask your porter to
take you to the Pullman de Morelos. When you get to the Pullman de Morelos ticket
counter on the second floor of the airport ask for " a Cuernavaca, casino de la
Selva. They assign you a specific seat number when you buy your ticket. Your porter
will escort you to your bus and load your bags underneath the bus. Remember to
tip him 30- 50 pesos. This bus can take from 120 minutes to 150 minutes to arrive
in Cuernavaca.
Once in Cernavaca inside the terminal look for taxi stand
and purchase a taxi ticket to Tepoztlán. It is located at the back of the
terminal where the buses pull into. You go to the window and let them know where
you are going and they give you a ticket. You then go through a turnstyle to the
outside and the taxis are lined up and they assist you. The ticket is given to
the driver and you keep a portion. No tip, unless you wish. Tell the taxi driver
Tepoztlán, Villa del Tepoz Fuego, our address, cerca (near) de Cruz de
Atongo.. You can print out the map that is on our website for him before you go.
This can cost around $150 pesos ($15 US), depending on the number of travelers
and baggage and it will take you another 30 minutes to arrive at our Villa. You
do not usually tip taxi drivers here in Mexico.
4.
Take a taxi to The Southern Mexico City Bus Station, A bus to Tepoztlán,
A local taxi, $25- $30 US (2 persons), 100-120 minutes. You can take
a taxi and bus directly to Tepozlán. This is cheaper and faster then going
by the Cuernavaca bus. Here is how you do it. Have your porter take you to the
Taxi booths on your left as you leave the customs area. Purchase a ticket for
a taxi, to the southern Mexican city bus station called Taxquena. A taxi can cost
from 100 to 130 pesos depending on the number of passengers and bags and time
of day. Then your porter will take you out to where you get the taxi. Remember
to tip him 30 to 40 pesos. If you are light on baggage and don't mind walking
across the street there is a taxi stand where you can save several dollars by
getting a metered taxi to the Taxquena bus station. The airport porters are not
allowed to escort you there. When your taxi arrives at Taxquena Bus Terminal you
exit and go into the terminal. Go left to the end where you will see a counter
with a board saying Morelos. Ask for the bus to the Tepoztlán Caseta (toll
booth). They run every 10 minutes till 11:00 PM.
You can also get the
bus to downtown Tepoztlán but they do not run as often and cost the same.
They will assign you a seat and it usually costs around 62 pesos a person. After
getting your ticket you go back near the area where you first entered and then
to the back of the terminal. Pass the food area and go out to where the buses
are parked. You will see a TV monitor. Your bus may be heading to 3 different
cities, Cautla, Yautepec, or Tepoztlán. Do not worry, your stop is the
first stop on all three buses. They will list the name of the bus's destination
city listed on your ticket and a bus number. It happens one minute after your
bus parks, and your bus only stays in its parking spot for ten minutes so be ready
to get on. You will need to put your luggage under the bus with the help of an
attendant. You can store small bags on the rack above your head when you get on.
Remember to collect your luggage when you get off at the tollbooth at the entrance
of Tepoztlán, your first automatic stop. Save your ticket because they
check them when you get off. A small walk takes you to a taxi stand with
one or two white taxis usually waiting. If no one is there just wait and they
will soon come. Tell the taxi driver to take you to the Villa del Tepoz Fuego,
our address, near Cruz de Atongo. You
can print out the map that is on this website for him before you go. This
should cost around 50 pesos depending on the time of day and how many bags you
have. |
